Chathuranga Abeysinghe

I am Chaturanga Abeysinghe, a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in Management Accounting, Financial Controlling, Business & HR Analytics, Digital Transformation, and Data Science. I am honored to take on the responsibility of leading the Kotte Municipal Council as a part of Jathika Jana Balawegaya (NPP), an alliance led by the JVP, with a mission to bring positive change to Sri Lanka.

My mission is to fix the education system and provide every citizen with an equitable and high-quality education, which will enhance the quality of our democracy. I plan to use my knowledge and expertise to support NPP in driving entrepreneurship, industry 4.0, and reimagining education in Sri Lanka.

My first interaction with NPP was in 2019, where I voluntarily supported their digital media team during the election. This experience allowed me to connect with the leadership and work closely with the party. In December 2021, I was invited to join national politics and became a part of the National Executive Committee.

As the leader of the Kotte Municipal Council my priorities are 5-fold: 

• Elevating the 30% poverty rate
• An Efficient and Transparent City Council
• A Digitally Connected, Citizen-focused City
• A Thriving Bio-diversity for a greener city
• A healthy, happy and fulfilled citizen
